Chicken is a classic planking recipe, but if you’re tired of the same old, same old chicken breast recipe, here is one that’s sure to kick up your chicken game a notch or two. Tandoori chicken is widely spread in South Asia. It is a chicken dish prepared with yogurt and various spices. The Maple plank adds a hint of sweet smokiness.

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 x 11” Maple Plank
  • 4 small Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 1 Lemon, juiced
  • 2 Tbs. Water
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • ½ tsp. Ground Turmeric
  • 1 cup Plain Yogurt
  • 1 clove Garlic, chopped
  • 2” Fresh Ginger, chopped
  • 1 ½ tsp Ground Coriander
  • 1 tsp. Ground Cumin
  • ¼ tsp. Cayenne Pepper

Curcumin is the compound
in turmeric that gives it the
identifiable bright yellow
color. It is also known for
its many health benefits.

DIRECTIONS

  1. Score the chicken by making small slits in the meat so the marinade can penetrate.
  2. Mix lemon juice, water, salt, turmeric, yogurt, garlic, ginger, coriander and cumin in a gallon size zip lock bag.
  3. Add chicken and turn to coat. Refrigerate in the marinade for 1 to 24 hours.
  4. Soak Maple Plank in hot water for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Preheat grill to 450°F.
  6. Remove chicken from marinade and place on plank.
  7. Place plank on grill, close lid and grill for 20-25 minutes.
  8. Have a spray bottle of water handy for flare-ups.
  9. Enjoy!
